Time is running out – reject gerrymandering now

You might think that Gerrymandering in Utah was coming to end with Judge Gibson throwing out the old map and declaring it a “result of an unconstitutional process.” Well, you would be wrong. The battle continues and time is running out.
What to know:
- Republicans are still against having fair maps. State Senator Brady Brammer has authored a Draft Redistricting Standards Bill that undermines the anti-gerrymandering goals of Proposition 4, and it is designed to benefit only one political party – a violation of the rules listed in Proposition 4.
- The newly formed Legislative Redistricting Committee (8 Republicans, 2 Democrats) is trying to narrow down which maps will be proposed to the full legislature in a special session on October 6.
- The Republican expert drew five different maps. You can review them here.
- The Democrats expert drew one map, here.
- A Utah resident drew one, here
